Everything David

A few weeks ago I posted a shot from an album cover shoot that I did.  The artist is David and the album will be coming out soon.

A couple of weeks ago we got together to do some shots for his website and other online outlets.  We met in Westport and had a great time shooting.  It was really cold and windy that day and we were very grateful with the opener at Harry’s Bar and Tables let us in to the bar, even though they weren’t yet open for business.

And finally, a shot of our new friend from Harry’s…

Pricing Update

Just in case you haven’t watched the news for the last six months, the world is apparently coming to an end!  While I don’t think it’s that bad, I do know that a lot of people are feeling a financial pinch these days.  I’ve spent the last couple of days considering how I might be able to respond to this to make my services more affordable. I’ve made a number of changes which I’ve broken down below.

Standard Portrait Sessions

Session Fees:  First of all, my session fees are now fully applied to your product purchase.  That means that when you pay the $150 session fee you’ll have a credit of $150 when you come to your ordering session.  This can be applied to any of our products.

Gift Prints:  Gift prints are prints that are sized as a 4x6, 5x7, or 8x10.  The price for any of these sizes is $50 per print ($40 per print if you buy a wall portrait or canvas), BUT if you order multiple copies of the same image you get the additional copies for only $25 each.

Wall Portraits/Canvases:  I’ve also lowered the prices of my wall portraits and canvases, so you don’t have to spend as much to get significant discounts on the other items you purchase.

This is all explained a bit better in the 2009 Standard Price List, so take a look.

Weddings

I’ve made a pretty significant change to my wedding pricing.  In the past I’ve offered complete wedding packages at a variety of levels.  These packages included everything that you needed, but because these packages were so complete the price was higher than many of my competitors.  I’ve tried to remedy that with the new pricing and you can now add the products that you need to the basic package

New Pricing:  The new pricing is $1999 and includes the following services

  • Engagement or bridal session
  • Full coverage of your wedding day
  • Reception slideshow of images of your wedding day
  • High resolution digital negatives with a print release
  • Online slideshow to share with family and friends
  • Online proofing/ordering

The new Wedding Pricing Guide includes information about the prices for our albums and proofing options.  You can also add a second shooter to the coverage for an additional $499.

If you have any questions about any of these changes, please let me know.  I’ll do my best to answer your questions!

High School Seniors

Standard print pricing also applies to High School Seniors, but we do offer some different session options for our high school students.  That information is available in the Senior Session Guide.

Double Trouble!

I had the great privilege of photographing twin boys last week.  They were just home from the hospital a couple of days when they came in for the shoot.

I had bought these diaper covers several months ago and they were much smaller than I had anticipated so I hadn’t been able to use them yet. With these boys being just over 5 pounds, the diaper covers were plenty big, and I was excited to get to use them for the first time.

I love this first picture of Baby P smiling while Baby I tries to eat his hand.

A couple of individual shots…

And another shot of the two brothers…

Bridal Show Recap

Wow!  I’m still recovering from yesterday’s terrific bridal show at the Overland Park Convention Center.  I met lots of wonderful brides and grooms and was very pleased to find that a lot of people were asking about dates that I still had open for 2009.  I was also pleased to see that a LOT of brides were planning way ahead for their 2010 weddings!

For everyone who is new to the blog from the show, please feel free to look around.

I promised everyone a link to my wedding prices, so here it is. (Please be patient as it loads.)  I’m also setting up a link to the right in the “navigation section.”

Show Special:  Anyone who books a wedding prior to March 14th can add two parent albums to either Package A or Package B.  If you are buying either Package C or Package D, you can upgrade your albums to a 12x12 album rather than the standard 10x10.  It doesn’t sound like a big upgrade, but remember, a 12x12 album is 44% larger than a 10x10.

We also had a drawing for a $500 gift certificate.  I will be contacting the winner today.  Keep an eye on your e-mail inbox.

And of course, if you have any questions, please drop me a note.  I have a handful of appointment times left this week, but next week is almost completely booked!

The Big Day

Yesterday was the big day for Sarah and Joe’s wedding.  When we did their engagement photos last fall and battled the 45 mph winds and freezing temperatures, we joked that they were just asking for it by having the wedding in early February.  Fortunately a lot of prayers were answered, and the weather yesterday was perfect with near record high temperatures and clear blue skies.

The wedding was lovely and full of emotion and fun—everything that you hope for in a wedding.

We’ll start with photos of the beautiful bride and handsome groom.

One of the pictures that Sarah said she wanted to be sure to get was a picture of her and Joe with a big, blue sky behind them.  I told her that we’d do what we could but we’d have to wait and see what the weather provided.  I know that she’s going to love this shot!

The sanctuary at Jacob’s Well was beautiful as always.

The Clubhouse on Baltimore was the site for the beautiful reception.
