Double the Fun

Today was my very first photo shoot ever with twins.  They are just a few weeks old and everyone’s been home from the hospital for just over a week.    Here’s a sneak peek:

Jacey Jean

Jacey is 15 months old and came by yesterday morning for some pictures.  We started off trying to do some shots in the studio, but she was having none of that (even after turning on her favorite radio station and playing “paddy cake” repeatedly).  So we decided to head outside.

We started on my patio which is a place I don’t usually use for shoots, but it worked out pretty well.

She was still a little leery of me but looked very cute in her tutu:

She was happiest when she was near her mom:

And then we headed to a nearby park and changed into a great purple outfit (her, not me) with a terrific hat.

And finally, a silly smile to end the posting:

I know that her mom was a little concerned because Jacey wasn’t cooperating too much.  I’ve photographed enough children to know that they often have different ideas than their parents or I, so I always schedule plenty of time to make sure we get the shots.

In this case, we went to three different locations and tried a lot of different things to make sure we captured Jacey’s personality.  It was a challenging shoot, but at the end of the day, we have some great shots that are sure to provide happiness and great memories of Jacey for generations to come.

I say all of that to say that if you’ve been thwarted in an effort to get good photos of your kids in the past, give me a call.  We’ll figure out something that will work for you.

A Quick Sneak Peek

Declan came by this morning (with his mom) for a few pictures to celebrate his first six months of life.  Yesterday I thought my schedule today was pretty light, but it started piling up on me, and I’m headed out the door to deliver orders and meet with clients and ad reps and so on and so forth.  I wanted to get at least one picture posted before I headed out the door.

More to come…

Carson Turns One

You saw a picture of Carson last week, but I thought I’d post a few more from his first birthday shoot.  He’s such an agreeable baby.  I’ve been photographing him since we did his newborn pictures, and we always have lots of fun.

Carson is taking his first plane trip soon when he goes to Malaysia to visit his grandparents.  I’m sure he’ll do great!

It’s hard to believe he’s walking already.  He had a great time running across this bridge.

He was laughing pretty hard by the time we took this picture.  I love the look on his face.

A Change of Pace

As much as I enjoy photographing people, every once in a while I branch out a bit. For the past year or so, I’ve been doing some food photography and have really enjoyed it.

I recently got a call from someone needing a photo of some salt, but they wanted it in context, so we decided to go with a Mexican/Margarita theme.

Food photography is really interesting to me because it’s just so different from what I normally do. It requires so much precision in making sure that things are placed properly and that everything looks good from the camera’s perspective which might mean that it doesn’t look quite right in real life.

I’ll probably post more of my food shots in the future, but I thought this was a good place to start.
